Orientation

Step 1 to enroll in the Self-Determination Program is to attend a two-part orientation presented by the State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD). You must complete both sessions and get certificates.
How to Attend Orientation
Attend the State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) Orientation
Starting April 1, 2026 – Attend the State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) orientations. This is a two-part series of live Zoom meetings. You must attend both Part A and Part B and receive a certificate for each. You must attend the entire meeting to receive a certificate. SCDD provides a certificate of completion that all regional centers will accept.
Bring the regional center client’s UCI # with you. This number is located on the regional center client’s IPP. If you cannot find it, ask your service coordinator. If you have two participants, bring both of their numbers. You will need this number to get your certificate of completion.
At the end of each session, you will receive instructions on how to get your certificate.

After completing orientation…
You will receive a certificate of completion once you have attended the entire session. Certificates are sent via email approximately one week after the meeting.
Send a copy of both of the certificates to your service coordinator. You do not need to attend each session multiple times if you are a parent of multiple regional center consumers.
