Step 1 to enroll in the Self-Determination Program is to attend a two-part orientation presented by the State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD). You must complete both sessions and get certificates.

Attend the State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) Orientation
Starting April 1, 2026 – Attend the State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) orientations. This is a two-part series of live Zoom meetings. They will provide a certificate of completion that all regional centers will accept. You must attend the entire meeting to receive a certificate.

After completing orientation…
You will receive a certificate of completion once you have attended the entire session. Certificates are sent via email approximately one week after the meeting.
Send a copy of the certificates to your service coordinator. You do not need to attend each session multiple times if you are a parent of multiple regional center consumers.
