Making Plan Changes
Moving funds in your Spending Plan
You can move money around in your spending plan but it takes time. Be sure to track your spending through your monthly reports and request movement of funds early!!!
Here’s how it works:
Moving Money Between Services already on your spending plan
- Same service code:
Your FMS can move the money without the regional center having to make accounting changes. Ask your FMS if they require a spending plan update. If yours does update your spending plan. - Different service code:
The regional center will need to close the old service codes and open new ones. Make sure there’s enough money in the code you’re moving funds from, including any pending charges. Update your spending plan or fill out a fund movement form if your regional center uses one. Give it to your service coordinator, who will get signatures and change the authorizations. Keep your Financial Management Service (FMS) in the loop so they know funds are moving.
Moving money to add a new service
If you want to add something new to your spending plan, contact your service coordinator.
They’ll need to confirm and approve the new item as well as the movement of funds.
Budget Updates
You can ask for a budget update if something changes in your life. Talk to your service coordinator if you think your budget should be reviewed and request an IPP meeting.
