Service Code Definition: #

A regional center shall classify a vendor as a Specialized Therapeutic Services provider if the person provides services for consumers who require specialized services, as deemed necessary based on informal clinical opinion, including review by a regional center clinician. These services must be identified in the Individual Program Plan. To be vendored under this service code, the provider shall have at a minimum, one year’s experience working with persons with developmental disabilities. Regional centers must obtain and maintain validation of this experience.

Below is a list of the providers qualified (with appropriate licensure, credentials and one year’s experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities), pursuant to the Home and Community-based Services Waiver to be vendored under this service code:

Oral Health: Dentist, Dental Hygienist;

Physical Health: Physician/Surgeon, Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Occupational Assistant, Physical Therapist Physical Therapist Assistant, Respiratory Therapist, RN, LVN, Nurse Practitioner;

Maladaptive Behaviors/Social-Emotional Behavior Impairments: Chemical Addiction Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Psychologist;

Specialized Therapeutic Services include:

Physical Health Services: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Diagnostic and Treatment, Physician Services, Nursing Service, Diabetes Self-Management.

Services may be provided by either a professional or a supervised assistant, and delivered either in the individual’s home/community, or in a clinic setting. Providers must possess the license, certification and/or credential as required by the State of D-2024-Rate Reform-005 November 19, 2024 Page 4 California to practice in the field being offered, and have at least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Providers continue to be responsible for the requirements described in Attachment B.

Oral Health Services: Diagnostic, Prophylactic, Restorative, Oral Surgery.

Services for Maladaptive Behaviors Social-Emotional Behavior Impairments due to/Associated with a Developmental Disability: Individual and group interventions and counseling.
