Service Code Definition: #

A regional center shall classify a vendor as an infant development specialist if the vendor has at least one year of experience working with parents and children with disabilities and possesses either of the following:

(A) A valid license or certification in one of the following disciplines:

1. Occupational therapy;

2. Physical therapy;

3. Special education;

4. Psychology;

5. Nursing; or

6. Speech and language therapy; or

(B) A Masters degree in child development/early childhood education which includes a minimum of 15 units of formal instruction in at least one of the following areas:

1. Typical and atypical infant development;

2. Infant assessment;

3. Infant intervention techniques; or

4. Family involvement in infant treatment.
